Per Kristian Aschim (Oslo): Religious tolerance and policy: The Norwegian Dissenters Act (1845) and contemporary theory of Religion and State

On which premises was the Lutheran state of Norway able to safeguard freedom of religious conduct through the Dissenter Act (1845)? How were freedom of religion delimitated in State regulations? In this Paper, the Dissenter Act of 1845 is read on the background of texts of central Danish and Norwegian State theorists, and in context of emerging religious revivalism and dissent.
