Jørgen Mührmann-Lund (Aarhus): Policing religious minorities in Copenhagen 1682-1731

In 1681, the Danish king appointed a police commission to work out a new set of police ordinances to increase wealth in his realm and especially the capital Copenhagen. One of the first initiatives of the police commission was to propose religious tolerance in the capital to attract immigration of talented foreigners. It would therefore be among the many tasks of a newly appointed police commissioner to ensure that other confessions did not spread and cause disorder by threatening the unity of the Lutheran state church.
